I finally got my computer working after a month but the only problem is that I have a athlon xp 1900+ and bios detects it as a 1.2 ghz cpu. I have a soltek sl-75drv4 and I went into bios and tried to change it to the speed that it should be and the only place that I could was an option for this redstorm overclocking and I forget exactly what it was called but the default was at 100 and I when I would turn it up from 100 it would show up as different cpu's as I turned it up and I got it up to saying that it was a athon xp 1800+ cpu it would freeze and it would overclock the memory to about 750 ram and I have 512 and I think it was because when I did this it overclocked the memory too much so it would freeze. I was looking through the manual and there was an options to change through dip switches and I was wondering if it would change the cpu speed to my processor if I changed the frequency ratio select through a dpi and the default dpi is 10.5x and it goes up to 12.0x. Also I there are dip switches that change the cpu external clock from 100mhz to 150mhz. All I want to do is get my cpu running at the speed of a athlon xp 1900 and not overclocking the memory, so should I do this through the dip switches and not in bios and which frequency would I use for an athlon xp 1900+ and what cpu external clock would I use?

Athlon XP 1900+ = 1.6GHz core speed, 12x multiplier, 133MHz DDR bus speed.

I haven't done a thorough search for your mobo, so I don't have any info for you on what's going on. Off hand, I'd say that your mobo doens't support the Athlon XP that high? Maybe it cuts off at 1800+. Also check some other things, you mentioned your RAM is giving you problems? What type & how many sticks do you have? How 'bout your power supply? What OS(es) are you running?

Edit: Just testing out some colors. ;)

Thanks I just got it to detect my 1900+ by switching to 133mhz on the mobo and that fixed everything and it seems to be stable because it's not freezing and my cpu temp isn't going over 45c.

I think the freezing problem before was that it was just overclocking the ram way too much when I just wanted to get the cpu speed up.

Hi goober...

Good to see you got the DRV4 running. As I stated in
an earlier post of yours, it's all in the dip switches
to get it cranked up initially.

Word of Caution --- Stay out of Red Storm in BIOS. If
later on you wish to overclock a little bit do not allow
Red Storm to do it for you. After you become more fimiliar
with the board it can be done with settings of your own.

Red Storm has been known to use settings that a person
can not recover from. So that means a new BIOS chip.

Check the jumper for the RAM voltage. Soltek performs
better with this jumper set at 2.6 volts.

Soltek has excellent tech support if needed or if you
have any more problems check in with the gang here.

Here's a Link to a very good Forum for your Mboard.
