My mouse keeps freezing up, disappearing, and flying all around the screen.Sometimes the 'right click' windows pop up all over the place, for no reason.Things get highlighted for no reason. Sometimes I get a message that an illegal operation has taken place and the program will shut down. Big deal on that one...I have to re-start my computer all the time anyway. I had to restart it about 16 times today just to get my mouse to work. I got here and mouse froze right in the middle of everything.I started over...again! Then I typed in my problem and hit something wrong and my question disappeared into nowhere land! So, I had to start all over again! When I do re-start my computer, it often tells me that a mouse has not been detected. I have checked the pins in the mouse, unplugged the computer, and re-plugged the mouse in. I've also cleaned the mouse. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. Can anyone tell me what is wrong, and if I can fix this problem myself? This is very frustrating! Thank-you for your help. (I hope I don't lose this message again!):(

If that doesnt solve the problem, post back with your complete system specifications and some more detail regarding the error.

Actually I think your mouse is suffering from a terminal illness...time to let the cat have it. :D

Usually, when the mouse is alternating between being detected/not detected at boot is is a sign that it is dying. Plus the random movement, and clicks I would say you have at least one broken wire...
