Hi all.
I have a celeron system with 64MB of RAM. When I upgraded with another module of 64MB, gives me the hateful blue screen! I have tested the individual modules and are working fine. But when mixed, the system gives the blue screen! What is this all about? Any help please! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Not very helpful I am afraid! i had the same problem with two sticks that were working perfectly singularly but did not want to work togheter....well since they were one 128 Mb PC133 and the other a 64 Mb PC133 I decided to return the 64Mb (refunded!) and ordered another 128Mb PC133 DIMM from the same supplier, it wasn`t a very wise decison but I did so thinking that the new 128 would have been identical to the one I had already, thus that no conflict would occour again.........well i got the new 128 that actually turned out to be different from the one i had but worked perfectly togheter with my frist 128Mb stick. Now i have a perfectly working 256Mb system using two sticks of memory. I have no idea why the 128+64 combination di not work and the 128+128 does! i have a long way till I can claim myself as a PC expertise i guess! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have seem mobos capable of hadling DIMM at more than one speed. it udjusts it self I guess. Now, I don't have any Idea of the speed of the two DIMMs I am having. Are there chances that with two different speed DIMMs may not work at the same MOBO at the same time?

Speed shoudn`t be a problem. the mobo should set itself to the slowest speed and that`s it. You might need to get in to the Bios and adjust some parameters but for the most part should be an easy thing. Check you mobo`s manual. As I did say, I could not explain to myself why two sticks that were supposed to work togheter didn`t! but it does not matter now. See if you can replace one of the two dimms and re-order form the same supplier. Concerning memory identity there is a very good program that is ......geez I don`t have it here and i don`t rememeber.......I`ll write later from PC at home and tell you which one is. bytheway it is free and can be downloaded from a german site, but the program is in english too! tells everything about dimms installed in your pc.

We have a few folks here that understand more than I do about why Dimms incompatiblity occurs ( I have a mixture of 128 & 64 in my system and it works fine)...but sometimes it doesnt. The only thing you can do in that case is to try to use the same Brand & similar mfg date of ram in all slots - that usually works best.

hi again, the free program I was talking about is called CTSPD. Surf around to find it (I am sorry but i have no link to the site). Bytheway, this CTSPD was suggested to me in this forum so if you put CTSP as keyword in "search" you should be able to find it.
good luck
