Hi munch253,
Try "scanreg /restore" which will list the last five backups of the register. Choose one from before the problem started happening.
If this fails to fix the problem. Then the tip Vantim gave you is a good way to restore Windows back to the register it had when the system was first installed. If you can't get into safe mode then boot to DOS. Type in these command in order.
attrib -h -s -r c:\windows\system.dat
copy c:\windows\system.dat c:\windows\system.bak
attrib -h -s -r c:\system.1st
copy c:\system.1st c:\windows\system.dat
(choose "yes" when promted to overwrite the old file.)
When you reboot Windows will act as if it was just installed.
Good Luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
