I have a PC that intermitantly acceses it's floppy drive when running applications. It happens out of the blue and seems like it is searching for no apparent purpose. I seem to re-call something about this happening before but I can't remember what caused it. Any help would be appreciated. This PC is running windows NT workstation. I seem to remember something about searching for files in the a: drive by default if this makes any sense. Thanks
Maybe you've got an app running in the background that is telling NT to look at the A: drive. If you've got MS Office installed it has a "feature" called FAST FIND that is notorious for causing this problem. Right Click START, choose OPEN/PROGRAMS/STARTUP. If you see Fast Find or anything else in there, try dragging it out, onto the desktop. Then reboot and see if the prob persists.
Also go to START/RUN type MSCONFIG. Look at STARTUP. Try disabling a program or two at a time to see if the prob gets fixed.
Good luck,
Don

Just don't disable systray(you need that). Also, though this is simple try doing a ctrl+Alt+Delete and see if anything is running that shouldn't be.
I Know the link Below is for Windows 98
Windows 98 Annoyances

But the info should help stop the A drive activity
