Hi
Recently I bought a PS2/USB Optical mouse(GIGABYTE brand), and I noticed that the optical LED is on when the PC is off, is it normal? it mean the mouse is always in power.
thanks

Hi Sharifat,
I use a Logitech optical corded mouse and, after shutdown, the LED goes out, coming back on again when I boot up.
You do not say whether your mouse is connected to a USB port, or the PS2 socket.
Mine is via the PS2 socket, having been advised in the Forums that USB ports were not the best way to go for mouse connections.
Hope this helps, but if not, there are much wiser members than me out there and someone will help you, I'm certain.

I have an AOpen optical mouse. The light will stay on when I turn the computer off. However, I have an ATX power supply with a power switch on the back. When I turn this off, the light goes out.
Do you have your comp hooked to a surge protector or UPS? Do you turn this off after shutting down? The light should go off when no electricity is being supplied to it.

Hi
Then it seems this is normal for an ATX power supply like mine.
Sure when I switch off the power supply there is no power to light the LED, but I don't do it normaly and just shutting down the windows.
thanks for information you gave.

I've got the same problem. I just upgraded my mobo and vid card and pre-upgrade I would shut down windows and mouse light would go off. Now it stays on. ???

Hi
May be it is a kind of feature not a problem, imagine you have alot of flash memory on your pc and your OS intalled in it, then by moving your mouse your system gets up in few secondes.
Any body can find more usage?

The answer lies with the Power Soft Signal that is nowadays the rule; see The PC Guide (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/power/sup/funcSoftPower-c.html). When a computer is "off" it isn't necessarily "off". :D
