Hi,
I have just converted to Win XP and my ancient (5 years!) Logitech scanner will not work. Not surprising as it was bought for Win 95. Contacted Logitech Tech Support and they had no help to give.
This is a TWAIN device, so is there a generic driver I can obtain to make it run, as it is a terrifice piece of kit and I am loathe to replace it?
Thanks.

Your only hope would be to try a Windows 2000 driver..even if thats possable to find.. may try here www.driverzone.com
Unfortunately, in today's hardware market, certain devices will never work in an updated OS; not because of any physical compatabilty problem with the device, but because the manufacturer believes the device is outdated and will no longer provide updated driver support for it.
There are many of these orphan devices around, and the best many of us can hope for is either the drivers for the previous most "advanced" version of Windows will work (in this case 2K) or to keep a dual-boot setup if replacing the device is not an option...

I thought to have a look around to see if there was a 3rd-Party manufacturer (like Adaptec) of an interface card that might work with your combination - but I came across this: "In the past Logitech have refused to supply programming information for their scanners. I have no indications that this policy has changed so it is likely that support for these scanners will have to be reverse engineered", which makes it look an unlikely solution.
I have a reliable, but old, Microtek scanner for which this was a solution in similar circumstances. But scanners have come down so much in price now that the cost of the card was nearly as much as a new scanner. So I bought a new scanner and just leave the old Microtek connected to an old 486 as a "backup machine".
Like you I thought my old machine was just great. When I got my new cheap scanner (a Visioneer) it was actually better and faster and came with much more versatile and easier-to-use bundled software! ;)
