I have got a DFI motherboard which support RAID. I'd like to configure the RAID as stripe to boost the performance. I bought two identical Maxtor HDs with 40 GB each (7200RPM). After I set up the array for performance in BIOS, I was supposed to reboot PC to FDISK two HDs as a single 80GB partition. Since there has been no Window system installed, I could only use DOS Fdisk within boot disk. But, I could not see a single 80 GB. Instead, when I tried to create primary partition, it only had 40BG available for me. There was another 40GB available for extended partition.
Could anybody give me suggestions how to get 80GB as a whole to be able to get striped RAID?
Thanks very much.

First you need to make sure that your RAID device setup properly in your BIOS...there should be a separate setup for it, you will need to find the key combo to enter the RAID setup options, it should be in the motherboard manual.

Then, you will need the version of fdisk that comes with 98se, older verssions may have trouble seeing drives larger than 64GB.

Here is a RAID setup guide...
