Hi ,
hope you can help me, I am rebuilding an old ATX.board, with an AMDK6-2 450MHZ, runs only on 300, hehe (192MB , small HDD,+ Floppy)
Board has onboard sound and onboard grafix...

My problem is:
When I setted up the comp , it runned and I couīld enter the bios, after some annoying =) work in it, I did and was ready, to go , but after format c:, it restarted, dunno why... and after boot the testscreen of the onboard grafix stays/freezes, I spent hours to find out how to get nearer to bios,easy--->remove the Keyboard(ps/2) ...

AND NOW???

how can I enter the bios , theoretically I only need to be able to get further than the error message("Keyboard /pointing device not connected").
If I could get just one hit from (Enter-Key, I could leave the work to a special bootDisk, which makes it able to make network...and using Keyboard from other computer to do all stuff....(connected by TCP/IP, or whatever, me is ready to stop sleeping for this =))

short:
With keyboard , I stay and watch the testscreen of the onboard grafix...

Without keyboard I cant make the Computer to boot from floppy =(((

I have several parts and experience to build whatever you can explain me excatly,
plz help if there is a way, donīt want to loose my small slow Baby-Comp =)cause of one single not working connector...

Try recducing the memory to minimal amount needed (if you are using SDRAM, one stick). I had a machine that would lock up like that because of a RAM incompatability...drove me nuts. (I found out later the RAM I had in was ECC in an non-ECC board  )

Just tried it , didnīt work , btw it worked already earlier(half a year ago) with that peripherals...

thx for your help,

Iīll keep trying , in meantime, I tried also different Ideīs with/without ...
is there no way to get a computer to run without a keyboard?? or is it possible to connect a keyboard to another type of connector??,
USB??, but I dunno if it works without driver, guess not
(to give him driver, I need to touch him =(. )

There are definitely USB keyboards available, but they may not work unless the USB ports are activated upfront.

Good luck,

Some of the newest boards come with the USB enabled by default, many older boards did not, so there would not be a way to enter the BIOS to turn them on without a working keyboard.

You said you did a format of the hardrive then on reboot no keyboard detected?..have you tried using a different keyboard? some older boards had ps/2 connection pins located around the keyboard socket. If any luck you may try that to use a keyboard and use a serial mouse.

sorry was not here , a long time...
bad luck for me, there are no pins, I keep trying, dunno...
whoever invented ps/2 should hang, all marketing stuff,
heee there is a new connection for keyboards,
common we buy a new one

greetz Druff, I keep trying.
damn I need a new mainboard, or?? do u think I can remove the PinConnector(ps/2) by myself, never did such a hard work on Mainboards, I am nearly sure I will "burn" it =)
