View Full Version : Conflict with I/O port

I have a pc running Win98, 15gig hdd and 64mg of RAM. 2 days ago i started getting the following msg during post "conflict with I/O ports 2F8" since then my modem hasnt worked. Any clues will help, thanks.

Did you just install any other hardware? Rightlclick on MY Computer choose Properties..at the top select Devive Manager and look for any devices listed with a question mark or a exlamation point and post back.

Do you have anything attached to com2 on your machine? If not, go into
device manager (start->settings->control panel->system. Click on the device manager tab). Expand the ports branch then double click on the com2 entry. Disable it (at the bottom of the window). Reboot and see what happens. (google groups)

Thanks for the replies! I actually got it fixed but in a different way. I changed the jumpers on the modem to PnP. Reinstalled the modem, booted up and presto!!! The modem installed succesfully in com3 and we're golden.
