i tried installing direct cable to my win 98 computer to a win me. the thing is, it didn't work and i had these error messages when starting my computer (in the system.ini).

these are the files my computer is looking for during startup vredir.vxd and dfs.vxd

and then when i press to continue, it goes to the gui and says an error (or lost) msnp23.dll

what do i do?

Take a look at this article (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q159/5/78.asp) in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. There is also a DCC troubleshooter in Windows Help. Click Start, click Help, then click the Index tab. In the keyword box, type the word "direct" (no quotes), then click on "troubleshooting" and follow the instructions.
