Hi ALL
Have just installed a Freecom Int CD-RW 12x10x32 Classic
This went ok with no hiccup's, but I have a problem!

After formatting a cd-rw disc to act as a large floppy drive, the disc writes and reads ok and burns photos and data ok, but when I come to eject the disc nothing happens! ? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

I have tried using the button on the drive also EJECT commands in My Computer/ Windows Explorer but in each case there is no response.
The only way to remove the disc is by rebooting the system, this seems to happen only on the formatted disc ( this was done with software supplied) ADAPTEC Easy CD Creator, with unformatted discs there seems to be no problem.
I have checked in My Computer/ Device Manager and both HARD DISC CONTROLLERS report no conflicts and are set at default also in CD-ROMS the check boxes are ticked in( DISCONNECT) plus (AUTO INSET NOTIFICATION) but unchecked in (SYNC DATA TRANSFER),this means very little to me?

So I was wondering if I have done something wrong with the install or there might be a hard ware problem with this particular drive in which case back to the shop.
Listed below are my current system specs and set up ( first time the cover has been off and no crashes)
MUCH THANKS FOR ANY HELP

If you installed directcd to burn your disks (it's part of easycd )
You now have an icon on the task bar for it.

Once a disk is in use it can only ejected up this icon.
Look next to the clock and speaker on the right end of your task bar.
You should see at least on the easycd icons. (Ezcd and Dircd)
Right click on the one in use.
Tell it to eject your disk.

It will or should ask if you want to close the disk or leave it open for further use.

I had this happen to me, but only with CD-RW's, seems that it wasn't 'finalized' correctly.

had you tried the "Old Standby" ??

start, programs, accesories, entertainment, CD-Player. Sometimes we overlook the micro-soft OS included CD-player, as most of us use one of the newer/prettier ones. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
