Hi dont know If any one can help.

I have a Giga-byte GA7 VTXE+ motherboard with 256mb RAM and a AMD XP 1800 processor, I have recently bought a new Graphics crad to replace my old one I bought a PNY Geforce 4 , 420mx. However on installing it my PC would not boot and all I got was motherboard beeps. Presuming the card was dead I sent it back to the supplier who in turn tested it on a ABIT based system tested fine and sent it back. I have now updtaed the BIOS on the graphics card to the latest version checked the mother board is AGP 2.0 checked the power supply is 300w changed the agp driving values any ideas?

Hello ian,

Welcome tohttp://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

You mention what your card was previously doing on boot up, what is it doing at this point since you've received it back and reinstalled?

Was your previous Video card a PCI or also an AGP?

Have you entered the BIOS and enabled AGP?

What beep code are you hearing?

If your previous card was a PCI you could be encountering a poor contact situation which can often be overcome by reinserting the card a number of times. AGP's are also notorious for seating diffulties! :(

I haven't checked, but does your Abit support the current AGP card you are attempting to install?

Sorry, lots of questions but it will ultimately help to diagnose! ;)

Complete System specs would not hurt either...there could possibly be a resource conflict going on...
