hey, I need some help please,

I have a micron gobook laptop 266 pII with 97mb or ram that is the maximum it will support. Now my problem is, i installed w2k pro on my laptop, when it boots up, no desktop it icon appear only the default blue background and mouse pointer nothing else, now if i boot the laptop under safe mode, it boots ok, i am open to any suggestions
