I have a UMAX 2000P at home and a 1200P at work. Both show a yellow vertical stripe running down the image on everything scanned. I tried to call UMAX, but now that both are out of warranty, they want $25 per call. Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Have you checked out their online FAQs? Have you tried this:

Also, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your scanner drivers? Did you change anything on the two computers before the problem started? Particularly did you add or delete any type of imaging software on both computers?

Talk2Me,
I had similar experience with an Agfa Snapscan scanner. Instead of a yellow line, I got a scarlet hue over the scanned area. The culprit was a color profile that was updated when I installed a new monitor. The scanner was unable to use this profile. The solution was to remove the color profiles and reinstall the scanner software.
I am not sure this will help, but who knows!
Good luck,
ER

UMAX DRIVERS (http://www.driverscollection.com/main.php?Hard=Astra%203450&By=Umax&SelectSystem=win98)
Download correct drivers..remove listings for it in device manager, shutdown..unplug the scanner. Reboot,,install drivers..shutdown and replug the scanner up. If you still continue to get hardware failure marks in the device manager, it could be defective. It seems they want to charge you for driver CD's as well, rather than having them available to download. Id say get a ball bat and finish it off and buy a differnt brandname but thats just my opinion
