Hope someone can help. A friend has a AMD450 that he has recently bought two USB items for. One is a modem the other a web cam. If the modem is plugged in and he goes online then decides to plug in the cam it crashes the modem and disconnects. If both of the USB devices are set up then the pc is booted they are both recognised however only one will work.. In other words, only one USB port seems to work at a time. Any ideas?

sounds like IRQ sharing conflict.

Some Bios' allow you to "Disable" the USB controller from using an IRQ...to find out if yours does, go into bios (Delete key @ setup-or whatever your key sequence is) and go to "Perpherials" or a page like that in bios.....see if you have the setting which allows you to utilize the USB controller on the mobo WITHOUT an IRQ.......that might solve the problem...Good luck
