Welcome to the PC Guide Forum, Scooby.

I would really like to help, but I can't tell from your post what the problem is. Try again to describe it and also give me some details about your computer and operating system.

Ok, some more info....

What version of Windows? are you using Office? What Anti-virus are you running?

Have you cleaned out the Recent documents (on the start menu)?

Have you done an AV scan, with up to date definitions?

Any and all of the above can have the floppy search after windows is loaded.....

Please don't post all caps. it's like you're shouting.

- Right-click an empty place on the Taskbar
- Select Properties
- Select Start Menu Programs
- Clear the Clear button

Also check to see what you have Norton set to scan in the background.

And disable FindFast....

I think MJC might have found the answer. Stop Find Fast by going to the start menu, programs, Start Up - right click on FindFast and delete it.

The only options on Find Fast right clicking with my 98SE is 'open' or 'create shortcut'. I tried to highlight it then hit the delete key and nothing happened. It is not installed on my pc.

What's odd is I have a similar problem in that at times my pc does not fully boot up but then shuts down once every 30+- boots. But this has always failed when I am away from the pc so I didn't know when (during the boot process) it would happen and if there was any error messages other than upon reboot the pc wants me to boot in 'safe mode' (which I haven't bothered with yet). I finally was in front of the pc when it happened and my floppy drive buzzed (spun) a couple times then the whole pc shut down?!?

I updated Snortin' Norton's and AllVirusGone (hopefully  ), then ran them and found nothing. It has been a 'loong' time (2 mos.?) since I've even used a floppy and have no idea why it does this. It does not do the 'hover' thing though...

I'll be Spy checking next... though why would it do that if info is what spyware desires anyway???

In watching another boot, it's apppears to be immediately prior to AVG's boot scan.

Scooby,
I have been to a site in the past that when you chose which thread you wanted to view, the floppy drive would spin for a second or two. Your estimation of 10 seconds 'seeeums' awfully long.... :)
