Help! Last night I shut my computer down properly and everything seemed fine. This morning when I went to turn it on, all I got was a black screen. The internal fan appears to be working, but the front LED light does not go on. Also, my monitor only gets the yellow/amber light, not the green light. Any ideas on where I should start?

First reseat your ram if that doesn't fix it take the mb out of the case just leave your video card and ram on mb. power up still no video swap out power supply with known good,swap out ram, still no video its either the cpu or the mb. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Before you go pulling the motherboard out of the case there are several things you can do to determine what is causing this problem!! 1st: Try to get hold of a known good video card.....put it in place of yours and try to boot up. 2nd: Pull the RAM out of the computer and replace it. 3rd: Try DIFFERENT Ram that you know works in it. If none of those things work [or you dont have the availability of getting the parts], I would take the computer to a technician. You dont want to try ANYthing you are not familiar with......like taking a mobo out of a case and powering it up http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif.

Had the same problem a few days ago {see Computer Poof'd msg in forum}. Turned out to be RAM - swapped dimm and my screen came back up - puter working fine since. Found the solution here in this thread - thanks all.

This kinda thing used to plague me on a few oaccassions. I juz took out all the rams, & reseated them into different banks & hey presto, my pc fired up & I've been smiling since then.
