Hello there,

Can the Abit BH-6 motherboard really accept 3 sticks of 256meg SDRAM PC 133, 32m x 64 ?

I have a PC, Pentium 3 800MHz, 100MHz FSB, with the latest BIOS flash from Abit. The BIOS is "Award 4.51". When I boot up, it only reads half of the total memory that

I have, 786meg. The owners manual says that it will accept up to 768meg.
If you can help me please.

Looked up the specs on your board, the BH-6 supports 768MB according to Abit, I think either you have a brand or type it doesn't like, or it's the wrong density. With an older board I'd think it only handles single sided memory, but that one should handle double sided.

Specs here (http://www.abit.com.tw/abitweb/webjsp/english/pt_main_back.jsp?pPRODUCT_TYPE=MotherBoard&pMODEL_NAME=BH6)

Next issue...what OS are you running? If it's win9x or ME it will only handle 512 MB, after that it runs out of caching addresses and windows gets real flaky...with NT based systems -NT, win2000 or XP- that should not be a problem, NT can handle all the memory you can throw at it.

I'm using Win XP Pro.I've also removed the motherboard battery and no change. It still only reads half of what I have installed; 3 sticks of "Infineon" 256Mb 32Mx64 SDRAM PC133 . Any help is very much appreciated.

All I can think of is either it's a brand the motherboard doesn't like, or it's the wrong density. XP should handle all the memory the board can use.
