Hi;
My comp.spec.as follows:
P4 2.5gig; current processor temp: 34 degrees
current motherboard temp: 33 degrees

I want to got a 'system fan'. what does everyone recommend. I need an 80mm type.

With my low temp.already is it worth still getting a case fan? I currently don't have one at all.

Any ideas appreciated.

This is a nice quiet and cheap fan:

Unfortunately I can't unreservedly recommend this company. It took them a week and a half to send my order and they messed it up in the process. They do have some nice prices if you get it together to send you the right stuff. One clue if you do order: I placed a second order a day or two after the first one and it got here about 3 days later - the difference was that it came priority mail instead of UPS.

As far as needing a fan, maybe not. I prefer to be safe given how much damage heat can do, so if you have a space for it, I would say go for it. The 80mm fans are the most common, so you will have lots of choices.

this is a UK site but it has a good fan section. DeltaFans (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Delta_Fans_58.html)

Thanks for all those ideas. :D

I actually live in the UK.

I looked at your suggested fans;but the one I do like is the Coolmaster DAF-B82 http://www.coolermaster.com.hk/en/products/casefan/daf-b82.html

However it doesn't some with a 3 pin connector but a 4 pin Molex connector. Where would this plug in? In one of the power supply connectors?

Ok;well thanks for all your advice and help.

I have finally opted for the 'YS TECH FD8125 SILENT 80 mm fan. On this link:-

Thanks again.

Splurge and get two. Install one in the lower front of the case drawing air in. Install the other in the rear pushing air out. Get the 4-wire molex connector ones so they are powered directly from the power supply.

Just an idea :)

Sounds like good ideas to me.

I'll have a look and see if I can get a front fan in my case.

Thanks for that.

I'll have a look and see if I can get a front fan in my case.

If your case isn't very tall, the front fan space/bracket is usually in front of the hard drives (internal 3 1/2" bays). This is a good place anyway as it draws in cool air to cool the HD's. Probably not necessary but it just might increase their lifespan (but of course you'll have upgraded by then :D).

Ok;now if I want to fit a fan in the front as well what is the procedure to do it?

Do I pull the front of the case off (Gently) and then fit it in there?

Depends on the case. I have one that has to be unscrewed and you can't do that unless both side panels are off. More commonly, there is a plastic tab that clicks into a slot and you apply gentle pressure to release the tab to take off the cover. Inspect it carefully before trying to remove it to find how your's works.
