Hey guys. I finally had some extra cash left over so i picked up a duron 750. I had a new asus a7v collecting dust so I started building a new pc. I'm having a problem with it,I start the machine, get the first beep and then it powers off? I've tried everything.I gutted the insides and only have a stick of ram, my video card, cpu, keyboard hooked up and still it powers off after the first POST beep. I'm thinking that either my duron is a dud or my cmos battery is crap. But since it's a new board, I'm leaning towards the crap cpu. Any thoughts? Also, none of the fan plugs on the board work. I had to use a old fan with a regular power hookup.

Check and set all the jumpers properly.
Clear the CMOS, the manual should say how to use a jumper to clear CMOS or I'm not sure about A7V but I had a ASUS board where I've used a knife edge to short two points in the MB for 20~30 sec to clear CMOS.
Also reinsert the RAM and make sure CPU is properly inserted and the fan is hooked up properly.

i've had a similar problem with my abit kt7a motherboard before. what happend was that the motherboard checks for the fan plug on the motherboard that you are suppose to plug in the cpu fan with. if it doesn't detect a fan there, the will boot up, beep once, then shut off. it was a new safety feature to make sure that you don't fry your cpu. so just plug in your cpu fan to that plug. hope that helps
