I have install my old Epson GT7000 scsi scanner to my new computer that running on Win XP, I have connected the scanner and install it's software, but every time when I turn on the computer a small window pop out with a massage'This program does not support Win XP'.
I have checked the Epson Webpage under the technical support section, they only have driver update to Win98.

Does this means that I could not use my scanner anymore? or is there anyway that I can fix this problem. (this scanner do not support plug & play).

It appears that Win XP does not have any drivers for your old scanner(this is common with XP and older hardware), and none of the available scanner drivers support XP.
The only way to make your scanner operable is to revert to Win 95/98.
Otherwise, you have to buy a new one.

Agfa Snapscan 310 SCSI (AVA 1505 SCSI "ISA"card)scanner between 3 & 4 years old.

When first connected to Xp the OS would not look at it, even under the compatabillity mode. So I tried the following

At boot up when XP found the scanner I cancelled the installation, I did not attempt to load drivers for it I just told XP to ignore it (insert a tick into the relevant box). It went into OTHER devices with a yellow ? next to it.

Next I inserted the installation CD and loaded the software and drivers for it (Fotolook - Cracking peice software) from the original installation disk. (Originally for WIn95). Loaded everything Ok.

Rebooted computer and checked Sytem Properties\Device Manager and checked there. XP has it fully installed under "other devices" giving full details of what it is and the SCSI card is installed properly as well. (It does not show under scanners in Device Manager as it normally would) It works perfectly with no restrictions in the software. It is not installed under the 95\98 compatabillity function

Try it and see if it will work with yours.
Good Luck

The error message you are getting is from the Port probe program included with your scanner
Or I will be willing to bet that is the cause of your error message

I’d suggest uninstalling the software or at least removing the command line that starts the probe program

Then if you can use the above solution or try to install using one of the generic scanner drivers and force XP to see it.

Tell XP the scanner is on the scsi card.
IF XP can see the card to begin with

maybe the win2000 drivers would work?

see this (http://www.experts-exchange.com/Hardware/Scanners/Q_20341333.html) response, and follow the link to the win2000 drivers.

worth a try-
