I have a work station running '98, when the user
goes thru the normal start, shutdown, the computer
hangs on the '98 screen that says it's shutting down

Here's the troubleshooter from M$ for shutdown problems.

One of the suggestions was the Bootlog.txt file
Where can I find this??

Also there is an exclamation mark by APM
under Device Manager, tried disabling,
updating driver, etc. no change.
Another suggestion was clear check boxes for
Config.sys and Autoexec.bat, the box for
config.sys was grayed out and nothing under
config.sys tab any other ideas? Thanks!

Bootlog.txt should be in the root directory of C: drive. With Windows machines autoexec.bat and config.sys are normally empty unless you have loaded real mode drivers for CD ROM or mouse, usually, to have them available in DOS. Otherwise, both should be empty.

Bud Allen (http://www.webteam.cc/~budallen/95wizard.html) has some good info that might help too.
