Hi I have a problem with a Xante Accel-a-writer 8200 that I just installed. It works fine on my Win98 box, but when I try to print out a test page on the WinXP box (the two boxes are networked) I get an error msg.

The error msg is as follows:

ERROR: undefined
OFFENDING COMMAND: d ef

STACK:

{--wmstatus-- --exch-- --sub-- --exch-- --pop-- --gt-- {--[-- (
This job requires more memory than is available in this printer.)100 500
(Try one or more of the following, and then print again:)100 485 (
For the output format, choose Optimize For Portability.) 115 470 (
In the Device Settings page, make sure the Availoable Postscript Memory is accurate.
) 115 455 (Reduce the number of fonts in the document.)115 440(
Print the document in parts.)115 425 12 /Times-Roman --showpage--(
%%[ Printererror: Low Printer VM ]%%)= true FatalErrorIf }--if-- }
/PrtVMMsg

Now I have no idea what all this means except the memory, and I checked to make it has 16 MB as it should.

Any idea what is wrong? As I said it works fine on the Win98 box.

Thanks

Is the XP machine using the latest drivers from the printer manuf's site?

Yes I downloaded the latest driver from Xante's website. Should work with both Win98 & WinXP according to them.

Are you trying to share the printer that is installed on the Win98 box?

Or are you moving it over to the WinXP box and trying to install it there, too?

If you are trying to share a network printer, say that is attached to the Win98 computer:

Install the printer on the Win98 machine.
Make sure it works.
Set the sharing property of the printer to shared.
See if you can see the printer on computers that are networked to the Win98 box.
If you can see it on the WinXP machine, then go to mycomputer/printers/add printer.
Set it up as a network printer (not local). You don't have to install the software on the XP box.

Don't I feel stupid...

I forgot to delete the old driver on the Win98 box, and that was of course the one shared while Win98 used the new driver. Solved the problem by deleting the driver on WinXP and then the old driver on Win98. Just added the driver on the WinXP box as network and ta-daaah!

Thanks gwallen! Got me on the track :)
