i realize that the new p4 and the newer celeron are both based on the 478 pin socket thing. but will this mobo also accept the celeron 1.7 ghz processor?

Is the Celeon 1.7 Ghz chip you are referring to a 478 pin chip? If so it will certainly fit. Not so sure if it will work. For more info, try here:
