View Full Version : DMA on CD-ROM?
I have a Creative 48x cd-rom and a Yamaha CRW 2200EZ on my computer running Win98SE. As I was looking around the other day I noticed that the Creative did not have DMA checked but the Yamaha did. Everything seems to work ok but do I gain anything by having it checked and in use?

DMA (Direct memory Access) is quicker, providing that the drive supports it.
You could check with the handbook, experiment, or leave well alone. (if it ain't broke. don't fix it.) your choice.
if you don't have h/book, look on manf site.
Ok, for a plain vanilla CD ROM, DMA probably won't make any kind of difference.
