i know how to intall the drive but without a floppy drive i can't format the new drive. i also have no idea how to access the bios,i think if i could get there i might could change the boot sequence.
Ok, your first thread came up dry so you started another one instead of continuing in the first.
In this thread you did not clearly explain what your exact problem was.
You know what you need to do to physically install the new hard drive correct?
But your problem is that you do not have a working floppy on this machine?
What is the problem with the floppy?
You can't access the BIOS in order to make changes.....

if i offended you i'm sorry that was not my intention. i started a new post because while surfing thruogh the site i noticed most that go unanswered the 1st day or so are never answered. with that being said i when i bought the toshiba it came with a cd rom only i since added a usb zip drive.
now i've just started reading the last link you posted, so is there a way to boot from the cd rom or zip drive? i also don't their boot companion floppy. i will continue to read the link you sent me to see if i can download one.
Ok, sorry if I came off a little harsh........not really my intention, I was just trying to recap everything, and that can be kind of flat to harsh sounding.
I think that the utilities floppy is in the downloads link.....like maybe the last one listed.
Another option that might work is to get an adapter to be able to hook up a laptop drive to a normal IDE (desktop) channel and then format and install (or at least copy the cab files over....) on you main machine.
