Hi and thanx for reading.
So here's the story. At first I replaced my ASUS P2B Motherboard with an ASUS P3V4X. Nothing wrong, all running well. A couple of months later I replaced my Pentium II 450 Mhz by a Pentium III 1000 Mhz (both genuine Intel). And at the same time upgraded my RAM from 128 (100Mhz) to 256 (133 Mhz).
After restarting I got a BIOS warning about my voltages. Checked the BIOS and saw the Vcore running at 2.0 with an indication this was in error (by the way it run at 2.0 with my Pentium II flawlessly). Futhermorethe BIOS didn't recognize the Pentium III at 1000 Mhz. In the manuals I've read that the Vcore voltage should be around 1.7 approximately for a Pentium III. It took me some days to figure out, but -this is important- I did quite a few cold starts (in the evening turning the computer off and the next evening restarting)and had no problems with my monitor (this is an Iiyama 15" TFT with USB hub).
So i've got a BIOS update from ASUS to version 1006 Beta 002. I was presently running 1005 version. The 1006 beta version was the only newer I could find. It installed properly and after restarting it recognized my Pentium III at 1000 Mhz and had changes the Vcore to 1.7. And my voltage warnings at start-up where gone. So... I was very proud afcourse....:-)
But now every time I do a cold restart (computer has been off for a day) I get a few beeps and no monitor signal. When I do a reset to start it a second time my monitor does start. When I use the computer and turn it off and directly turn it on again the monitor is also oke.
So it happens only at "a cold start". I have no clue what is causing this. I'm thinking about the Vcore, maybe put it a little higher, but read this could damage the processor.
So if any of you have any clue please respond.
Thanx in advance.
