I just updated by Award BIOS on my BM6 motherboard to the latest BIOS version. The only thing that the new BIOS update does is fix a problem with the numlock light staying on after shutting down from Windows. Well the update worked but now after I shutdown my computer and start it with the power button the computer comes on but doesn't POST. In order to get the computer to run I have to hold the power button for several seconds for the computer to power down. After that I have to switch the power supply off in the back. After I switch it back on I can use the power button in the front and the computer boots normally. It really isn't that big of a problem because I never shut the computer down but it is rather annoying anyway. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Any idea what might be causing this? Thanks
Go into the BIOS setup and see if the poer button has been set to "reset" or something like that...should "on/off". Also check that the other settings are what you want them to be, usually when you update the BIOS it loads the default values, sometimes the default values are somewhat different from what has been configured when you bought the system.

The only thing for the power switch was the selection for the power on function. It was set to power switch only as it should be.

If you have any of these options in BIOS setup, disable them:
Wake on LAN
Wake on Modem or Ring
Wake on Keyboard

Unfortunately those settings were disabled as were all other power management features. I don't see anything else in the BIOS that looks like it could be causing this either.
