My computer is infected with an IRC virus ,
does anyone know of any online support
where i can get help ? or maybe if anybody
is familiar with such problem would like
to help me ?

It would help a lot to know exactly what virus it is...

If you know you have a virus, then you probably have antivirus software on your computer to be able to recognize it. Check their website, they should have info on it, and possibly instructions for removal.

nope i dun have any antivirus software monitoring
my system coz my friend accidentally deleted it :P

i just happened to download a file via IRC , after
i execute it then my pc starts to give me problem .
A friend then told me that the file is a virus.

....wat should i do now ?

Go to bootdisk (http://www.bootdisk.com) and download Fprot...it fits on a floppy... that should identify the virus.

my friend is Amateur and i was the one that
had been affected by the virus. the name of
the virus was VBS.loveletter.pen.!the problem
in my computer still exist.u know the icons
that show the pictures of eg. my computer
(where there is a picture of computer)
the picture is gone and it applies the same
for the rest of my other folders!any things that
i could do ????

I hav already cleaned it using the F-prot. should i use it again??

F-prot will kill it but I don't think that it will restore the damaged files, the above link is *supposed* to be able to restore the damaged files. I say supposed because I haven't, like the providers of the link, needed to use it so I don't know if it works the way it is advertised.

Since I never had to use the cleaner I'm not quite sure what it can restore.

InoculateIT (http://antivirus.cai.com/), but only until Thursday June 7, then they will stop distributing it and move to a fee based product, but they will continue to provide updated definition files for it.

About OfficeXP, don't know, don't really care and if someone gave it to me as a gift I may consider installing it, but otherwise I don't really have much use/need for it so I'm not really trying to find out much about it...

I'm sure someplace like Zdnet (http://www.zdnet.com) or cnet (http://www.cnet.com) would have a lot of info about it.

About Office XP.........

I tried to install it on a system......

After about 20 mins of problems I said heck with it and went back to 2k

I went to an exhibition of office...........I was quite impressed with at least "some" of the ideas they had for improving office in general....but unfortunately I never got to see any of them first hand on one of my own comps haha.

Hopefully this is not a sign of whats to come though, as far as the problems I had trying to get it to run!

The Script Sentry is also very good. Detects malicious scripts.
