The monitor goes blank.

This only happens when on-line (IE6) After some 5-10 minutes, surfing happily, the monitor goes blank.

Once it has had a fast flickering to the screen, but usually the screen just goes blank and have to reset via the reset button.

Can play Sims all day with no problem.

Problem only happens when online.

Have reinstall IE6 and Win98SE
Have reinstalled Radeon card

Well least it didnt go blank when you were in the middle of writing that post dude ;)

Try deleting the modem from Device manager, turning the machine off and opening up the PC, then placing the Modem into a different PCI slot, then install it again could very well work....


Failing that try and do a windows update somewhere with a broadband connection.


Last resort ---- delete partition and reinstall windows.

I would urge you to run a thorough AV and spyware scan with the emphasis on the spyware. It could be a malware program trying to take over your system. Do you run a firewall. Go here for links to good programs for this:

Most likely a modem-display conflict. Try reinstalling the drivers for both the modem and the display adapter. Also install the updated drivers.
