hi
i boot up this afternoon and pop in a cd in to my computer with load good no problem, but it did not work
i pop it in the other one same thing

i have 2 d drive lg 52Dmax and c drive hp rewriter 9110i
but
there no drive listed in control panel, and there no drive listed in device manger, and on my taskbar for for direct cd the a red O with a cross through it tell me no supporting drive
now
how and why did i lost 2 driver
and
how can i get them back, as i can not do a window setup with out a cd rom driver, and i would not know how in the first place how to do it with a window startup dick for drive a

so question is why and how did i lost my cd rom driver
how to get back

everything else seem to work good there no red or yellow in device manger, and i can surf the net , get e mail loging on seem ok, window load good video come in with sound, software that i tried work, but no cd rom i just do not understand it

i try setup from drive d and e with no luck all i got was this, "cannot find the file *\setup ( or one of it components) make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available", but what i find funny is when i leave window 98se cd in drive and reboot, opening screen ask me if i wish to reboot from disk disk or cd
so why does it find it there but no where else, and how can i get my drive back

We need a little information on your computer: processor, motherboard or brand of computer, amt of memory, Windows version. From your post it looks like you have 2 CD drives, one a CD-Rom drive the other a CD-RW. Is that correct?

Assuming you have two CD drives on the same IDE data cable:

It's possible that the data cable connecting your CD drives to the IDE controller might need re-seating or might be failing/damaged.

Try disconnecting each connector on that cable one at a time then reconnecting.

I agree, you could also try another cable or hook one cd up to the other ide channel as slave just to see if it works.

We need a little information on your computer:
processor AMD 1000MHz
motherboard Gigabyte GA-7vtxh+
brand of computer build from scatch not the same compter i start with about only the tower is

amount of memory 256 Mb pc2100 266 mhz DDR ram
, Windows version. window 98se

yes one cd rom is a normal one and one is a rewriter
and i think ther both connected to the same cable

ok if a cable went bad bad or disconected would that stop it from showing up in my device manger and control panel ???

Yes. They wouldn't show up.

Also if one CD went bad, it's possible that neither device would be seen. You should probably disconnect the CD drives one at a time to check for that possibility.

Does bios see them when you boot?
