Hi:

CPU: XP 1900+
Heat Sink: Stock
MB: Gigabyte GA-7vrx
Chipset VIA KT333
Artic Silver III

I am wondering if I should replace the stock AMD fan with a better cooler and heatsink. Currently, I am using CPUIdle and my system idles at 28ºC. At full load the temps rise to about 50º C.

Will adding a better fan\heatsink gain me very much?

It might bring you down a few degrees, especially if you keep using the Arctic Silver. If the heatsink you have has a copper core, it isn't likely to get much better. If it is all aluminum, an upgrade might be worth the hassle.

Just something else to chew on....

I had a similar situation where the HSF upgrade didn't help, but installing 48CFM case fans in the rear did. Could be the hot air isn't getting sucked out of the case... When my temps rose under load popping the side off the case dropped them considerably cluing me in..
