Guys

I recently posted but seem to have got nowhere with my problem with win2k but this get stranger..

Duron 600 - Via chipset - Nviaia TNT graphics card - Dual boot win98 and win2k.

I recently updated the directx for both boot os's as well as the Nvidia drivers. I downloaded dx8 for win98 and dx8.1 for win2k. Both installations went well, no problems. I then decided to run the dx checks to see if all was ok. The win2k checks will not run and constantly crash the pc, sometimes it wont even complete the first test. If I run the same tests on the win98 os all runs fine!!! WHY?? I am certain its not the new driver, well as certain as I can be as I also put it onto my main pc, p3 1000 - intel chipset - same Nvidia card and also dual boot. On this pc all runs fine...

I have looked to see if its a Via problem but can only find updates going back prior to SP2 realese, as SP2 is loaded the updates wont install (i did try just in case).

I also uninstalled directx 8.1 from the probelm pc using an uninstaller that was recommended and that put it back to dx7, still no luck.

Please, Please, someone give me a clue!!

Reinstall DX 8.1, or try DX 8.1b(for Win 2000).

wish it was that simple!!! I decided to put DX9 on the win2k os, no go it just crashes faster!!! When running the Dx diag it will perform the first test then when I go to the bouncing cube it starts at lightning speed then crashes.

Are you having any problems other than when trying to run DX Diagnostics?
If so, then try different drivers for your video card.
