hello,
guys, i have a serious problem. ok, first thing, i downloaded a program off kazza today. i installed the program. when prompted to reboot, when it started back up, it did not come back up. it said LOAD ERROR1. ok, so knowing that you have to be careful with what you download from kazza, i thiught maybe something messed my system up. so, when all else fails, blow it. well, i installed win me, but when it went to start, it said LOAD ERROR1. not good. it is a wd 10gig drive. so i am in the process of checking it with wd's diagnostic disk. so far, it says the hard drive has no errors. HUH? so i think my next move is going to be, to just write 0 to it, and that will give it a real good cleaning. if anyone has any ideas to what this might be, or what might have went wrong, please let me know. if anyone has ever seen this before, please let me know what you did to fix the problem. thanks in advance guys for the help. DALE

Well, since you have gone this far zero it out. It very well could have been malware.

When you reformat it , reformat it by using dos. Meaning fdisk. When you format you get to the dos prompt after the boot disk loads. Type in format c: /s /u . Also make sure it is a windows 98 boot disk. Windows ME boot disk will not let you use the switches /s /u . Then after it formats reboot, and let the cdrom load up. cya

Sometimes when you use the cd to reformat it. It keeps the same registry entries and its like you never reformatting it in the first place.

hey guys,
sorry for the delay on getting back with you. i have been busy trying to get some systems built and out of here. the name of the program was nero 5. i'm sure i am not the only one that has tried kazaa. but anyway, thanks for all the replies guys, after i low leveled formatted it, it is doing just fine. not sure what happened to it. even a virus is not going to mess up the sectors in the drive. not that i know of anyway. thanks again guys, have a good night. Why don't you just download a trial version of NERO (http://www.nero.com/en/index.html) from their own website. I would assume it to be a little more stable and/or reliable.
