View Full Version : floppy drive doesn't boot!?!?

I am having problems with the floppy drive. For some reason it is not recognized at boot-up (with or without a disk). When I'm in Win95/NT/2000 the drive is recognized and functions okay (by the way I installed the OS from a bootable CD) Except I cannot boot from it and I will get a "Disk I/O error: Status = 00000001" error when trying to install NT by the NTDetect hardware check. Bottom line is the floppy only works in the OS and not at startup. I have played with every bios setting and even have restored the default. The floppy drive does work in Windows so I don't think it is a hardware issue. This is really strange so I hope someone out there can find an answer to this. Thanks!
