Is that idle or load temp? Which processor are you running?
Generally, the range of 45C - 50C or so in load temps is considered acceptable.
Even if you run in the 50's celsius, you will probably not experience any problems, although your processor may retire earlier than it would if it were run at a cooler temperature.
Once you get over 60C, you might start experiencing system failure such as sudden rebooting or freezing or shutting down for no apparent reason. Many manufacturers build a safety switch into the BIOS. Under the PC Health or equivalent section of any given BIOS, you may see an option to shut down the system if the CPU temp reaches X. Most systems I've seen only go as low as 70C. You may be having problems before it gets to that temp though.
AMD says that an Athlon is good up to 90C, but you will never see the temperature get that high, because you will have system failure before that happens.
