Hi and happy new year evveryone :-),

I just have a few of questions. I have a pentium 3 500 Mhz w/ 384 ram and Window 98 second edition. A couple months ago, my video card died and I sent my comp back to the manufacturer for a replacement. They replaced mine videocard with Nvidia geoforce2 400mx w/ 32 mb. After that I noticed a strange occurence whenever I reboot or shut down my computer. Before Window shut itself off, a dialog box appeared saying "Operating out of Frequency
HF 98.1
VF 219.4
Operating Frequency
HF 50-75
VF 70-95 "
At first it didn't seem to cause any problem. Now after a couple of month, my monitor became very blurry (very hard to read the texts). I'm wondering if this is what causing it or is it time to replace a new video card. If this is a cause, how do I fix it? How do I adjust the frequency so that it's back in sync with the operating frequency?
I am a novice at computer literature and any advice is greatly appreciate.
Thanks for your time :-)

(after window completely shut itself down, my monitor displays a self test message saying it is working correctly ((the texts weren't blurry)))

You need to adjust the refresh rate of your graphics adapter card.

Right click on an empty space on your desktop. Choose properties>Settings>Advanced>Adapter and then change the refresh rate to 75MHz or lower and click apply.

Running your refresh rates out of your monitor's specs seems to have caused some damage! If your monitor is still capable of displaying non-blurry text, tho, it can't be that bad. Do as malcore said and bring down that refresh rate!

On another note, if your monitor does end up dying, you can always get your computer manufacturer to replace it. It's their fault, after all, for setting it up that way. Take some pictures of those messages that come up on your screen, they might come in handy. ;)
