OK recently Ive formatted my hard drive at work which has a Iomega zip drive and I use it to back up a program that is in another location and restore it here ...well I goto Iomega's site to DL the program and its not there :( all thats there is a automatic back up program thats a trial thing ...so my question is do I have to use the iomega program that I cant find or is there any suggestions for another program that does this?...

You have to run the installation software for the zip drive found here:

http://www.iomega.com/software/ioware402pc.html

The software makes the drive appear to be a removable drive, so you can use it and back up to it just like you would a floppy drive, only with much higher capacity.

Um, I just built two computers with IDE Zip 100 drives. Each has dual-boot Windows 98SE and Windows 2000 Pro. No Iomega software was loaded; both operating systems recognize the drives as being removable, and they work fine.

I don't have an answer for you, THunDA. Is this a special-purpose application program you need to backup?

Kenja,

The older Zip's were connected to the parallel port and required a driver.

Oh, that's it. I've got one in a box somewhere, never used it.
