windows ME media player 7.0
Lately I don't get any sound from downloaded files. Cds and games work but if I download, say for example a clip to preview a sound clip off the internet it will show to be playing but no sound comes out. Help

If you installed any other program lately that plays sound files, it probably changed your associations. You could reinstall Media Player or you could check and change your associations. I don't recall how to do that, but someone else will....

To change the program that opens a file
On the desktop, double-click My Computer.
Click the file that you want a different program to open.
On the File menu, click Properties.
Click Change.
Click the name of the program that you want to open the file, or click Other to select a program that is not listed.
Notes
This change affects all files that have the same file name extension as the file you selected. For example, if you change the program that opens a .bmp file, all .bmp files will open in the new program.
If you previously changed the program that opens a file and you want to change it again, click the file, click the File menu, and then point to Open With. A list appears containing all the programs that have been used to open this file. Click a program in the list, or click Choose Program to select a different program.
