Oh boy is this a strange one. I bought a coolermaster HAC-V81 Fan today for my XP2200, which sits on an Abit AT7 Max2 board. The fan comes with power plugs that go inline with one of the hdd power cables & has the old 1 lead sensor wire to put into the mobo fan slot. When I start the machine it starts & immediately shuts itself off. Even holding in the power button it "heaves" like a bad clutched car....I put back in the original AMD fan & it runs like a charm. Any clues here?? Does Abit have something hidden in these things that if it doesnt sense a fan it shuts down..... Im about as lost as I can be....Ive looked thru the bios but cant seem to find anything that would cause this. Thanks for any & all help!

Actually, yes many motherboards will shut down if there is nothing connected to the fan header on the mobo.
