Ok, the Radeon 8500LE 64MB video card I ordered just arrived. So, I take out the TNT2 card that is in there, replace it with the new card and try and boot up my computer. The only problem is, nothing comes up on my moniter. It's like the video card isn't sending a signal to the moniter. My system specs are:

Win98SE
PIII 866mHZ
384 MB RAM

Any help? I really want this to work right. Thanks in advance.

If it is an AGP card, it can be tricky to get it seated properly. Make sure it clicks thoroughly in place. Also, you may want to put the old card back in and boot so that you can remove the driver for the old card before you install the new one. If you don't, you may have many more hours of fun trying to get the damn things working again. I would remove the old one in Safe Mode.

Boot with old card. Uninstall the old drivers from registry and the drivers folder. Switch to standard VGA. Seat the new card properly and start the system. Install the drivers when prompted. Should help.

Hello Andrew.

START UP TEST
1. Is the PC dead? No.
2. Did POST appear to run? No.
3. Were there any audible beeps? No
4. The Power-On Self-Test failed to complete. [NO POST]

See NO POST chart. [see note A below]

The important point here is that if you DID get the single beep that indicates the successful completion of the POST, but you get no display immediately following that beep, then:
You have a DISPLAY PROBLEM [new card not functional? Not seated properly?].

A. If you would like copies of my Diagnostic Flowcharts to help you track down the likely cause of such problems then: send me a personal message giving an e-mail address to which I can send them.
