I have a Crystal ISA audio card that I have tried in both ISA slots and it hangs the boot process.
I believe I have used the card elsewhere and it worked, but I'm not sure. Do I assume it is bad? Computer boots fine without it. No jumpers on card. MB sees the card though.

I'm running 2k on a Soyo BX chipset MB.

Have you installed the drivers? It could be that the driver is what is causing the problem and it will only pay attention to the driver when the card is installed. You could check Device Manager in Safe Mode and delete the drivers. Search for an updated version of the driver and reinstall are installing the card. I would not assume the card is bad, especially if it is working in another system.

It hangs in the boot process. Can't even get that far to do anything. Right after update ESCD/DMI.

I was thinking you might have installed the drivers prior to putting in the card.

The next thing I would look at then is whether there is onboard sound and if that needs to be disabled either in the BIOS or with a jumper on the board.

No on board audio.

Well, the next thing I would do is look for another ISA audio card....

Sorry, I don't have any other ideas. It is possible that your ISA slot is bad. Have you tried cleaning it out? Do you have more than one slot to try it in? I would also check the BIOS and see if there is anything about the ISA slot or sound that needs to be adjusted if you haven't already tried that.

Moved it 3 times between both ISA slots. No on board audio.
No known conflicts. Only a AGP card.

Got it!

At the top of the PCI/PNP screen the line PNP OS installed was set to 'no' by default since I reset the bios settings. It should of been set to yes. That solved the problem.

Now why didn't I think of that...:D

Congratulations on getting it resolved.

By setting to bios defaults also changed the processor from a 450 down to a 200! So much for Soyo's defaults and this is the last bios for that board.
