Hello, I have a Hp Pavilion 7935, athlon 1.3 ghz, 256 mb ram, intergrated video, came with cd-rw, 40gb hard drive, windows xp professional. I was playing a game on my computer when it froze, so i restarted it and it would not boot to windows it cam up to a blue screen. THen when i put the restore disk in it would not read the cd-rw drive, not even as a cd-rom. Also Cmos doesn't see it. i have check my cables and my power and it is CONNECTED PERFECTLY and all connections were tested, and i still get no cd drive. any ideas? Please Help

If you have access to other cd-rom you could try it out in place of your cd-rw it may have died.

Well, it could have died, but I would try other options first. If you have a Win98 Startup disk, try booting into DOS with CD support and see if it recognizes it that way. Since you have WinXP, you can't do anything to repair it without the CD drive. If you can access it in DOS, you at least know that it still can be recognized. If not, you will probably have to get anothe CD drive to run WinXP and run the repair utility.....
As I am writing, I realized you say it isn't seen by BIOS. That means the next step is probably to check in BIOS setup to make sure no settings have changed that would cause a problem. I would probably try the reset to defaults option and see if it is recognized. If not, I would try another CD drive or try this one in another computer to see if it is dead.
Good luck,

The system being XP, you can also try the Last known good configuration option by presssing F8 at the startup. Also, try resetting the bios to defaults or you can even try clearing the CMOS.
