Hello,

I've just migrated an existing network to a new network and everything is quite sweet (pats himself on the back) except for one error which is occurring on two workstations.

The details are:

Microsoft Windows Network

<Domain> is not accessible

An invalid operation was attempted on an active network connection.

This occurs when using Windows Explorer to access other network drives.

I understand that it relates to a Win32 API, the error code 1230 and function call ERROR_CONNECTION_ACTIVE but I'm not a programmer and would like some information in to how this problem can be eliminated.

Cheers in advance!

Try disconnecting and re-mapping network drives.

Cheers for the reply spaceAlien.

However, all drives have been remapped yet the error still occurs. I should've explained myself a little more clearly.

The error occurs when you click on the domain in Explorer (or Network places) and want to expand the domain to list all the accessible workstations. It will continue to occur when accessing workstations this way and so on and so on.

Thanks

Exactly what operating system(s) are installed? Sounds like NT4.

From microsoft.com: 1230L ERROR_CONNECTION_ACTIVE An invalid operation was attempted on an active network connection.

I'm not much help, sorry.

O/S is Win2000.

I wish it was Nt4 cos I've never had more 'interesting' (read incredibly frustrating) issues than on W2K. Flaming M$!!!!

I still think it's an authentication problem. The users do not have appropriate permissions.

The workstations must be members of the domain and the users must log onto the domain, rather than the local machine.

This can be quite confusing -- can you tell us more about the network -- is it peer-to-peer? Do you have a PDC? Is everything W2K?
