hi,
i am using a mini tower case right now and i have just changed my computer's motherboard.
every thing works fine if i leave the case open, with the case lying horizontally, just like a desktop case.
but then, after i cover the case and set it right up and boot up the computer, it will show a blue warning screen of fatal error after i entered windows98, before any icon is loaded. i can only terminate that application or use Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot the computer. if i terminate that application, it just hangs there. but if i reboot it, the same thing happen after entering windows98.
then, i lay it flat again, there is no more warning screen and it seems that it works well.
may i know what is the problem and how to fix it? thanks!

Hi;

You may want to read the other post on this forum titled "freezing" started by Shauntywhite.

It sounds like someyhing is not seated properly. Check to see that the memory is all seated properly, as well as the CPU, video card, all connections, etc.. no cables obstructing anything.

Is the cpu fan working? Do you have adequate cooling/a good heatsink and fan?

What is the message that you are getting, if any, when the system freezes?

I agree........about the only thing it could be is a loose cable to a hard drive, a video card not seated completely or RAM not seated well......additionally, it could be the cpu fan is not making good contact with the cpu except when sitting flat and it is overheating when upright.

Can you set it up without putting the case on so you can see if the fan stops working as already metioned above, could be one of you cables e.g IDE, that when stands up catches the fan.

Failing this you need to check for any lose connections or items that could cause shorts.
