Hello, my TYAN S2468 Thunder K7X mobo started counting up memory, although quick boot mode was set. This takes a long time with 2GB.
CMOS reset with jumper did not fix it. Flashed BIOS with 4.04, rebooted - nothing. Power cycled, 2 beep codes, not 4, as expected: 1 long, 2 short.
Took everything out, get 1-3-3-1 for missing memory, as expected.
Menory is 2 strips of 1 GB each, registered etc. Put in memory, alternating strips and slots, always 1 long, 2 short beeps.
Removed battery, tests at 3.14V.
I know, it does not look good, just what is that strange beep code?
Thanks for your help, Eggert

Phoenix beep codes are more detailed than other BIOS codes. It emits
three sets of beeps. For example, 1 -pause- 3 -pause 3 -pause-. This is
a 1-3-3 combo, and each set of beeps is separated by a brief pause. So,
you need to listen and count when your computer starts doing this.
Reboot and recount if you have to. Code beginning with 1, 2, or 3 beeps
are fatal.
