I am in a real problem. I have a Intel Celeron 533 with 256 megs of Ram and I have an HP 4X CD burner. I use Easy CD creator 5.0 Platinium. I burned a music CD. The CD is recognized as an Audio CD, it plays but there is no sound. The program kept freezing up. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it but the same thing happened. I then installed Nero , but this keeps failing in the test mode (towards the end). I tried different speeds but still the same . I Then tried CDRWIN and ended up with the same problem. Has anybody experienced this? Or can someone tell me what's going on? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

If you installed new software recently, especially TurboTax but also other programs, you may have gotten a cute little program called cdilla that will block recording of audio and other CDs in the interest of copyright protection. You can download Spybot Search & Destroy to check of it and remove it. You can get it through a link here:

Probably a dead burner. Will it still read a commercial CD?
For $20-40 you can get a new one that will do 40X-48X (maybe not that fast on a 533 Celeron.
