I would like to connect the three pin fan speed monitor to the motherboard but the only one I see id the one the CPU fan is already plugged into. I included shots of the mother board which is a Biostar M7VKQ-A003 Ver. 1.1 Does anyone see any possible places to connect this?

Also how do I get this heatsink off. I think I can see how the CPU fan detaches but how is this heatsink attched to the CPU/motherboard?

No, I do not see a place to connect the power supply tach lead, and the Biostar web page only mentions CPU fan speed monitoring.

Thanks. Any suggestions on removing heatsink?

I am not familiar with that type of heatsink. The CPU socket has three tabs on two side, so I would expect there is some type of clamp that needs to be released.

Hi drdan, is that a 3 pin connector under IDE slots? If so what is it for?

I just posted in your other thread that the sysfan connector is right next to your floppy cable connector on the side opposite the CPU. Here is the link to the manual to look further if need be:

The manual indicates that the system and chipset fan connections are optional. Looking at the upper right corner of the last photo above, the outline and JSFAN lettering is printed on the board, but the connector does not seem to be there. Ditto for the chipset fan.

It appears the heatsink is longer than the fan and CPU. Which is probably obscuring your seeing the retainer. You may want to gain some angle to see or use a mirror to see the clamp that retains the HS/F to the socket. You may need to remove the mobo to reach this result.

You may need to look up the heatsink combo at the respective manufacturers site. Can't quite read it in the pics :( or I'd try.
