Need some help !!

Older System: Windows98, Celeron 433Mhz, 372MB RAM

When I turn on my system, the PC does not boot. The hard disk
does not appear to be accessed. I put the emergency recovery CD
in and the PC does not read it. No message of any kind is
displayed on the screen. Any ideas?????? Thanks.

No beeps coming from the case speaker? Make sure the case speaker is hooked up.

Any fans spinning? If not, sounds like a power supply.

Are you hitting the power switch and absolutely nothing happens? If so, it may just be a worn out switch.

Post back with a few more details.

I'm not sure about the fan spinning. The PC is at home and I am at
work.

When I hit the reset button, the light on the CD blinks and it sounds
like the CD momentarily spins, but nothing happens.

Exactly. And if your case speaker is properly hooked up and you don't hear any beeps after powering up but before boot failure, that's the most probable diagnosis.

That could be the problem. When you first turn on the computer it can get a small burst of power just from what it stored in the capacitors even if the power supply is dead. However, it could be any number of other problems also. When you get home, try it again and note as many details as possible, especially whether it beeps at all. When you post back post those details and as much as you know about your computer's specs so we know what you are working with and can better help.

:( I have the Similar Probelm with my pc ; its PIV 1.7 ghz , Intel 845 wn , ihave un plugged hardrive , cd, floppy , change the ram ,after that also my system boots read memory slowly and after hangs , i have checked heat sinked and fans all are fine
, can u tell wht will be the probelm , Hey one more thing some time it goes to system bois but hangs :confused:
